Hello they are perennials.each cone on top is the seeds.They look like marigold seeds when broken down.I broke down a small one and I estimate a least a hundred seeds.Counted 20 without a dent in the amount I got out of the cone.I send the biggest ones so you will have plenty.Here is a site you can look through about them.http://hubpages.com/hub/winterflowers-purpleconeflower
