The listing, Beautiful Tanzanite Cross Necklace has ended.
This a beautiful little tanzanite cross pendent that is 1" x 1" on a long 32" chain. It is a soft lavender color and the clasp is marked 750 18kgp. I researched this and rather than try to explain I copied this directly from a jewelers website which I can't mention because it would be advertising. But, here goes...
14KP
Essentially the same as 14k, 14kp does NOT mean PLATED. The “P” refers to “plumb”, or EXACTLY 14k. Since 1981, the Federal Trade Commission has dictated that all marked jewelry not vary more than 3/1000 parts from the marked quality, thus being designated as “plumb”. Because of this regulation, whether marked “14k” or “14kp”, all legitimate jewelry produced today is “plumb” gold.
417, 585, 750, …
These numbers are the decimal equivalent to the karat marks mentioned earlier, indicating the percentage of precious metal present in a piece. For example, 10k = 10/24 = 417 = .417 = 41.7% = 10k; Accordingly, 585 = 14k; 750 = 18k, and so on. Since it is 92.5% silver, you may see Sterling Silver designated as “Sterling” or “925”. Platinum can be designated in a number of ways, usually preceded by the numerical percentage designation, such as “950 PLAT”, “900 irid/plat.”, etc. Numerical designations are the standard in Europe.
I enlarged it only so you can see the detail.
I believe the chain is silver, but am not sure, so bid wisely.
Happy Bidding!
