I am not sure what that means. Most of the specific info I have on this is from the certification card for this gem. I will try to take a close up of the card and add it so you can read it.
calibrated means is it cut to fit into a standard size setting. Like photos standard is 5x7m 8x10, 9x12 etc. Gems are cut and calibrated to like 6x4, 8x6, etc than you don't have to have it set into a custom made setting which is expensive. I was just charged $50 to have a stone set into a standard setting, imagine what they would charge to do a custom setting. So unless your buying it to put into a collection as is, you want a calibrated stone. You learn something new every day!
nI did not take it to an appraiser. It was inspected and certified by gemological institute. That card comes with it and I added close up pics so you can read it. Hope that help. Thanks for stopping by!
I purchased it from a collector via the internet awhile back. I am fascinated with mineral and rock properties espescially beryl. I was not buying for gem worth but mineral study/comparison(plus it is beautiful and I am a girl :) but it was for private use not gain. Thats why appraisal was not important. I now have multiple specimens and figured I can share.
I have a handful of giant emeralds. Not sure if they are quality enough or whatever the criteria is to consider them as genuine emeralds but I like ones like this!
