Questions & Comments
Being a collector of ACTUAL WWII memorabilia, I would have to say that IF this IS authentic, it's been cleaned. And the harsh cleaners used have probably ruined it's real auction type value. As for the person that mentioned that uniforms occasionally came with extra buttons, you're right. But the button that got thrown in a box with others got dinged up and banged up. This one looks like it was just made. If this WAS taken from a dead German soldier, it would be nicked up. I'd say the ONLY way this is authentic is if the "GI" that "came home with it", found it in a German Army supply depot and immediately stuck it in a plastic bag (oops, not available back then) wrapped in fabric and never took it out to look at it. It isn't even affected by skin acids.
Things like this are always been found at estate sales or in german house attic in Germany. I bought an old world war 2 Mauser 98k that was found in a german base in grease crates. They look brand new because they were in the grease crates.
No, actually he's a friend of mine. And I've seen some of his what he's collected. I've only been collecting WWII stuff since 5th grade. That's only about 30 years.
The Mauser was a very superior weapon in its time. It's only drawback was that loading a round was noisy. But, in the days following DDay, the noise it made got a number of GI's killed.
To: williamsteiner, butterbee and stewie16 don't bid on this. This is a Great item williamsteiner, butterbee and stewie are not worth having this. This Historical Nazi Button should go to a true world war 2 collector. that will display it with their collection.
I used to collect Nazi memorabilia, And this sir is a fake. You seem to have no idea as to what you are doing. It is called research, you should look into it.
This is authentic. You should do more research before talking all this. I got two of these at a world war 2 military gun show. I'm keeping one and selling this one for someone else to enjoy it as much as I do. I can see your a hater of collecting nazi items. I'll be sure I ask Adolf Hiter to sign it. besides The US American Soldier didn't get the nazi they killed to sign it. it's War Booty. Butterbee what kinda name is that? Are you a Tree Hugger Hippie. People like myself love Collecting Nazi items from World war 2.
In authentic German Nazi memorabilia, the swastika underneath the national eagle (found on all official Nazi material) is pointed 45 degrees north. The Nazis adopted this symbol from the Buddhists, but changed it by turning it a bit north and usually putting a circle around it. This article is not authentic, and even if it was, it shoud include a certificate of authenticity. Nazi memoriabilia is notorious for being forged. Buyer beware.

any ww2 collectable or antique is worth bidding on ! i HAD TWO UNCLES WHO fought in ww2, one was killed in action in france, and the other was a prisoner of war! and i am damn proud of both of them for fighting for their country! great item ww2travler, great item!!!!!
Sorry to hear about your brave Uncle in france. My grandfather was in world war 2 and he fought the Germans. I'm proud of all the military people that gave their lives for our freedom. I'm Proud of being American.
worldwar2travler, you are correct in telling Law to take care of his vintage items. I have many vintage dolls that are over 100 yrs old but look like they were made yesterday. Keeping vintage collectablesin a clean dry and away from sunlight placeis the best way to savethese items. Also handling them with gloves helps prevent the oils from your skin from soiling items. Ikeep all of my collectables in display cases that are sealed to protect them. I also collect vintage WWII items for my Father who was in the Philipines when they fell. Just won some "Mickey Mouse Money" from a lady from the Philipines and a coupleof the bills look absolutily brand new. They have been kept in a sealed plastic envelope to prevent damage. Its all in the way you preserve your items. wyomingdreamer
wyomingdreamer, You know how to keep 100 year old items like new. You must have a great collection of antique items. I bet your Father likes you collecting world war 2 items. Thanks
My grandfather gave me a box of WWII 'artificats" that he collected at battle sites and other locations. They are in TOP NOTCH shape. The men that fought in that war respected their difficult task and brought home things to remind them of why the sacrificed so much (and so many of their brothers at arms)- it's only natural they took good care of them.
Many soldiers brought back War booty. I bet the box your grandfather gave you has history in the stories he told you about them. You just have to take care of those items. That's Great.
look at Sherri and her book from 1904. It's just how you and the persons that had it before you took care of the book. Law take care of your stuff so when you pass it will still be here for someone else to enjoy. The life and world of collectors. Thanks Sherri for the buying that book from the 1904 and taking care of it.
@ Law, I have a book dated 1904 and it looks near mint because the original owner took WONDERFUL care of it...in the case of uniform buttons and such, often times there were extras incase an original fell off and the extras were tossed into a box and that box got put away so don't doubt the validity of something because of time... Just FYI from afellow history buff.
This is original, antique from World war 2. I have bought many things from the 1939 that look real good condition. It's all about keeping it indoors and in a good place. Just like a German Nazi flag I bought from a ship. It was in good to mint condition. They took real good care of it. Go to an antique store and you will see things made back then are still in good use today. Not like the junk there is today that will last two hours after you buy it. Thanks
