It is a Wifi hotspot. It gives you a wifi connection anywhere you can get a signal. Just like if you go to McDonalds or something to use their internet for your laptop. Hope this helps

I could not really find out alot online, I think it gives an option for "month to month" but I couldnot find out for sure. I have to work today so will not be home to call. You could call Verizon and check, but I am not going to be able to. Sorry and thanks, Greg
