The waist band is Super Heavy Duty Elasic....not that flimsy stuff....and it is 11 1/2 inches from waist band to hem............I hope that helps!...Thanks for asking!... i own a pair of them myself.....and no they didn't shrink either....so you don't have to worry about that either!...and they're super soft and comfy too!...I love them!
