The Cotton Planters Loan Association-Example of an association that issued their own currency during the civil war. NOTICE the phrase "Secured by a pledge of cotton at 6 cents per pound for the amount of the issue as well as the private property of the stockholders. On the opposite end the notation "redeemable in Gold within 6 months after the raising of the blockade of our coast.
