I honestly don't know exactly but it would have to be somewhere between 1939 & 1945 because it was sent to my grandmother by my great grandfather during ww2 when he was overseas.

I do not see much description. perhaps I can help. Looks like sandalwood to me with a rayon(plant fiber) tassle. probably from the early 50's.

Also with back lacquer end pieces. Looks like the box has a bit of mold damage which will not affect the sandalwood fins of the fan because it has natural anti-mold oils in it. There may be a faint lingering scent if you rub the wood. sandal wood smells wonderful if it is not completely dried out.
