This Beautiful! Vintage piece is a sand dollar necklace made by J&C Ferrara & Co of Massachusetts. It's sterling, MARKED: STER J + C Ferrara Inc. The dove-like pieces on the chain are exact Replicas of those found inside every sand dollar. **One of the most popular of all shells, legend has it that the markings on the front & back of every sand dollar tell the story of Christ's suffering and His glory. And, when the shell is broken open, 5 tiny bird-shaped pieces emerge. These represent the five doves of Good Will and Peace of Mind. It is an absolutely stunning, just amazing piece! I was given this, a few years ago, and Never wore it, I have too many necklaces & hate to see this one sitting in a box. I'm not sure if they are still making this design. The chain on the necklace measures 18 inches long excluding the clasp; the pendant is a tiny bit under 1 1/4 inches in diameter. It has a special Gold finish. It is in wonderful condition.
