Description

The listing, Beautiful Ribbon Necklace with Totem Pole Pendant And Adorable Baby Owl Earrings has ended.

This Beautiful Blue Ribbon Necklace has muti-colored glass beads and Hand-made Clay beads to adorn it, as well as a Unique Totem Pole Pendant that is Hand-made and Painted Ceramic. To the Northwest Coast Indians, the Totem Pole provided a means of communicating their stories, myths and legends. The Adorable, Blue, Sleepy, Baby Owl Beads on the earrings are also Hand-made and Hand Painted Ceramic. There may be slight differences, and that is because they are not made by a machine. But that just makes them all the more Unique and Adorable. The bead above the babies is Snowflake Obsidian, a stone of Purity, that balances the mind, body, and spirit. It also enhances serenity. The Black stone, directly under the Owls, is Black Onyx, a stone that helps relieve unrelenting sorrow or grief. It is also worn to defend against negativity that is directed towards you, as well as fortifying self- confidence and a healthy ego. The stone under the Black Onyx is a Sodalite, which promotes great peace and harmony, as well as helps in communication and give you the confidence to speak more. The tiny stones under the Sodalite are Blue Lapis, a highly valued Ancient Gemstone, who's properties are: love, protection, power, and healing.
In early Native American folklore, Owls represent wisdom and helpfulness, and have powers of prophecy. I have more Baby Owl Beads at my shop on Etsy, as well as many Native American Style earrings and necklaces, and many Vintage items for sale also. Why don't you pop in for a visit? http://www.etsy.com/shop/shawneefirebird I will also ship to CANADA for $4.50. VIA PAY PAL. I DO NOT ACCEPT HIDDEN CASH.

Thankyou. One thing I don't understand is how noone seems to know about me, when I have been on Listia ,and have had multiple auctions, for about two months now. And up until now, I've never really had that much luck in auctioning my Native stuff. Didn't seem to be enough people interested in it. I auctioned Pink Baby Owl earrings just about two weeks ago, and was very disappointed that I didn't get a better reaction. About one month ago I auctioned a beautiful pair of dreamcatcher earrings, and had to relist them three times because I got no bidders. Then when they finally did go, the top bid was only something like 125 credits! That's another auction I was very disappointed in. My other name that I go by on Listia is shawneefirebird. Oh, and maybe one of the reasons that you get different stories about the dreamcatcher is because different Tribes and/or Nations have different versions of the same legend or myth. That doesn't mean that one is the right one or one is the wrong one, it simply means there are differences among the Tribes and the Telling.

@Rose, you make some lovely things yourself. Earthsong, I will check out your Etsy site. I'm so glad you're listing stuff here. Do you have the time to explain the significance of a dreamcatcher? Everyone says something different.

Dream Catchers
Dream catchers are one of the most fascinating traditions of Native Americans. The traditional dream catcher was intended to protect the sleeping individual from negative dreams, while letting positive dreams through. The positive dreams would slip through the hole in the center of the dream catcher, and glide down the feathers to the sleeping person below. The negative dreams would get caught up in the web, and expire when the first rays of the sun struck them.

The dream catcher has been a part of Native American culture for generations. One element of Native American dream catcher relates to the tradition of the hoop. Some Native Americans of North America held the hoop in the highest esteem, because it symbolized strength and unity. Many symbols started around the hoop, and one of these symbols is the dream catcher.

I'd like the dreamcatcher are planing on auctioning off one of those?

Doubt it--- they take too long to make, the material to make them is expensive, and I could not get what it was worth on here. Might offer one for sale at my shop. You can always order one personally from me.

Wow, I have made two LONG responses to this and it keeps disappearing.... WHEW! I will have to respond again later.... the jist is you're right; quality stuff often does not get the recognition it deserves, but YOU WILL get it! This auction is getting a lot of recognition; you will get a lot of credits ;)

By-the -way, I don't get to keep these credits. That's the price I pay for Listia to let me promote my shop.

It so hard to find native things here in atl
Aug 19th, 2010 at 1:59:14 PM PDT by
Original
Where is ATL? Atlanta? There are lots of places on-line if you can't find them locally. I make alot, but I also make, I don't know, what is the word I'm looking for? HIPPIE Jewelry. That is if you were to categorize it. I just call it Unique!! There's also another lady on Listia who makes Native-style jewelry. Her style is more Traditional than mine. You know her, because that's how I know about you. You made a comment on one of her auctions.
