Yeah they are a pain but worth it! Did you see the earrings of black lampwork beads with roses that I had on here a few times? I made an illusion necklace of those and it came out gorgeous! but not before almost getting to the end and cutting the line instead of crimping! oh you should have heard me! Now i don't use my 3 in 1 tool for it so I don't cut it! get the tiny crimp beads-they come in 2 sizes tiny and tiniest! ha! You can start in the middle and work out both sides or start at one end. I just do 1 strand ones now-too much work!
So, you put a tiny crimp bead on either end of the beads you want to float? I got rid of all my clear beading wire (can't recall if it was Tigertail or the other one) because it was too easy to cut it while working with it, very frustrating! Now all I use is Soft Flex, but you can't make floating necklaces with that.
Yep its not hard & you can even use fishing line some say! i use the clear beading line.and yes i've cut it a few times! and screamed! now i don't use my 3 way tool -only the pliers to crimp!
I'm not sure how difficult it would be to tie, crimp or glue fishing line. The problem is with a lot of the plastic lines is that they break when you try to crimp them, and tying them can be "trying" (sorry for the bad pun-ish).
If you have some, it could be worth playing with but if you are buying beading wire, I'd stick to the stuff made for beading. Soft Flex is the only thing I use now, it never crimps up and never breaks. I love the stuff, very flexible and easy to use.
