well you can tell verizon your probably going out of country in a couple weeks and just in case you do u want the phone unlocked they might do it than =)
Do you absolutely have to have the data service (per-se the web addage service to use this phone? Or can it just be used as a regular cell with texting?
Because thats all I really need it for at the moment!
Craig just wanted to tell you a few answers that could help you answer the other bidders questions. First it will only work on a cdma network such as verizon or (sprint if unlocked). It will notwork on a gsm network such as at&t or t-mobile because this exact phone will not accpet a sim card. But as for sprint I doubt you will be able to get it unlocked as verizon is very protective of there phones.
Blackberry is a great phone! And if it a Verizon phone then you can not use it with another carrier unless you take it and get it unlocked. And to do that I have heard is quite expensive. Verizon is a great company,if you all want the phone and do not have Verizon get the carrier. The man is doing a great service for those that want a BB, so don't give him grief! :)
Sorry, asking again--- I got lost within other questions and comments--

I believe that you need a data plan - that's what they told me for BlackBerrys (and the Droid I currently own). However, a buddy of mine has been using his curve on Verizon without a data plan for years now so I'm not really sure.
I think their official rule is that you need a data plan, but there may be workarounds.
Out of my league now :( GOOD LUCK GUYS! remember you can unlock it. you just have to make sure the it will work on the network band you are trying to go to. check the RIM website if you want to know which Bands (GSM) this phone supports
"blocking" is what I do to annoying commenter who don't read the description. There are people who comment just for XP *gasp*. I don't like those people. Here's an example - oh - look - you:
I tested the bid waters. I'll try my bidding again when it comes to a close. Verizon is my cell company, this phone is sweet. I don't think it gets much better than that.
