The listing, CARVED ALABASTER BUTTERFLY has ended.

A hand carved butterfly carved from alabaster. alabaster is a hard compact calcite or aragonite that is translucent and sometimes banded.this hand carved piece is vintage and carved in italy with the original sticker on it's back side as the photo shows. this butterfly being carved from alabaster makes it quite unique and took a master carver to do. it is in fine shape with no cracks or major chips. it is very beautiful as you can see. i have to start the bidding at least 499 due to all the things this piece has going for it!!!!! do alittle research on it and you will understand and appreciate it !!!!! happy bidding !!!!!!!

i'm glad you like the butterfly!! did you do any research on alabaster??? it's not only a beautiful mineral it is very hard to work with, the artist that carved it had to be a master!! probably from the 30's or 40's at the earliest!! you can tell that by the sticker!! i love it !! the reason that i'm getting rid of it now is (and i'm not lying) the other day when i was looking for things to list i had the butterfly in my hand and was thinking about how i would never get rid of it that i would just let my girls fight over it after i'm gone, well right then it slipped from my hand and as quick as quick can be i caught it before it hit the floor which would have shattered it into a million pieces instantly in my mind to me that was a sign, time to let someone else enjoy it!! and i truely believe in signs coming threw actions that we make or have happen to us, it is not a coincident, i do not believe in coincidents!! i mean there is no way that i should have caught that butterfly i mean no way!!!!!!!! well anyway thanks for reading about an older man's story!!! LATER !!!!!

the one pic on the right shows the sticker that is still on it!! that raises the value greatly because usually the first thing to go is the sticker and it proves that it was carved in italy !!!!!!
