The listing, VTG Doilies has ended.

This auction is for 5 VTG Doilies. They are all in good shape, the one in lower left hand corner is very thin and frail, but still in awesome shape. I showed a closer image so you might can tell how thin it is. But they are beautiful.

I got these from an elderly lady that passed away, I am assuming they are vintage, how do you tell? I have a big bag full, so will be posting more soon!!

The one that you said is thin is knit while the others are crocheted. They do look vintage.

As a doily maker and massive collector of the old pattern books I can confidently tell you that the patterns used all came out between the mid 30s thru the 40s and they are most definately hand made and vintage. The one on the lower left is not knitted it is in fact crocheted with Tatting cotton size 80 which is only slightly thicker than sewing thread.It's one of the few patterns I have that gives size and hook sizes that far up.It could be as big as 42"rnd with a few changes. Believe it or not they're tougher than you think! Hand wash in Woolite or Restore and lay flat to dry then spray starch with a hot iron & you're good. I could tell you how to properly starch them but it is a bit of work. Beautiful auction and the pics made all the difference!

I too have been crocheting for more than 50 years and have lots of old and vintage books. I will have to stand my ground that that doily is knit. If you can prove differently I will apologize.

Yes, that is definitly knit, I have that pattern and several other knit doilies but they are in storage in Ks. But I remember its knitted. so beautiful and dainty!

As a crocheter of almost 40 years i can tell you the doily is knitted with a crocheted chain stitch border. Beautiful
