I used it for a monthly plan, but it will also work for the prepaid, you just need a sim card to put into it and then plug it into your usb port on computer for the internet, I use my phone as a wifi hotspot now,so I no longer ned it, I haven't used it for a couple years, only used it a dozen times when I had the plan.thank you for looking.
