I don't know. I never tried it with canned food. My dogs eat the kibble.

About how much food does it hold? I am trying to feed a Brittany Spaniel, a medium sized dog.

It may not work well for a medium sized dog. We have a miniature pinscher and it held enough for her. But it may work for a larger dog as well, just not sure....
