Instructions
Cut your main fabric into a 7 x 8 inch square. Fold your main fabric in half along the 8 inch length with the right side facing in to form a 4 x 7 inch rectangle. Align the 4-inch side edges and pin.
Sew the main fabric along the two 4-inch sides with a ¼-inch seam, leaving the 7-inch side open. Turn the main portion of the bag right side out and set aside.
Cut your lining fabric into two 4 x 7 inch rectangles. Peel apart the two halves of your Velcro strip. Place one half on the right side of a liner rectangle and the other half on the other rectangle.
Position each Velcro strip to run horizontally ¾-inch down from one 7-inch edge. Center the strips evenly between the 4-inch sides. Pin the Velcro strips in place and sew them to the liner.
Place the two liner pieces together with the Velcro strips touching. Sew the liner together along the 4-inch sides and part of the way across the bottom 7-inch side leaving three inches open in the middle.
Set the main bag portion with right sides facing out inside the liner portion of the bag with the right sides (and Velcro) facing in. Pair up the 7-inch raw edges of the bags and pin. Sew ¼-inch in all the way around to connect the two bag portions.
Pull the main portion of the makeup bag through the opening in the bottom of the liner until the liner is turned right side out. Sew the opening of the liner closed and tuck the liner into the main portion of the bag.
Sew around the opening of the bag to add a finished seam ¼-inch away from the top. Pair the Velcro halves together to close the bag.
