Description

The listing, Confederate 1863 Georgia $100 Bill Printable Scan has ended.

The high bidder will receive VIA EMAIL a High Res Scan of the Confederate 1863 Georgia $100 Bill as pictured but without the "COPY COPY COPY"!

Once professionally printed (Kinkos,Office Depot, etc...) this bill will most definitely be suitable for framing and display!

Georgia - $100, February 1, 1863 state seal within coil of a rattlesnake, bust of Jefferson Davis at left.

History: Between December, 1860, and April, 1861, eleven southern states seceded from the Union and formed the Confederate States of America. Although paper money had played the same role in these states as it had in the North, the Civil War (1861-1865) was to place a heavier financial burden on the South. These bills reflect the buoyant hope and utter despair of a people that staked their all and lost. It is the symbol of expectancy and of tears. The Civil War left the South with commerce destroyed, credit impaired, and with production almost at a standstill.

Is this both sides? I want to make some "play money" for a future civil war educational study (homeschooling) but would like to have both sides. I just came across your auctions and noticed one said one side scan only. Just thought it would be an exciting addition to our studies. Any recommendations on which of your auctions would be a good representative of the common currency in the confederacy during civil war time would be appreciated also if you have the time. I ask because you seem very knowledgeable on the topic. Thanks.

all of my scans are one sided.
I think to offer both sides might be against the collector rules...
I am not offering "counterfiet reproductions - by offering only one side - I believe I am ok with the collector community. No one can print and attempt to sell them as real bills.

as per the most "common" Confederate Paper Currency... There was none. Yes the Confederacy printed their own currency - but not many people (even true Confederate Patriots) would use the bills. They would prefer to use local or state currency. They used the currency that had the backing they trusted. Most common folk only used coin.

thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. I didn't think of somebody trying to pass it off as real since I thought it was worthless except for as a collector item and I guess people would probably try to do that. :/ thanks for all the info. I think it will still be interesting for the kids to look at, even if only the front. Thanks again.
