This belonged to my grandmother. It is glass with seterling silver onlay pattern of flowers and vines.

F&W good luck in asia. i lived in korea for over 2years with my then 6month old daughter. wasn't easy. is the silver on the top of the plate or underneath it?

The silver is a thin layer on top. What was hard about living in Korea. I was thinking of applying for a teaching job there.

living in korea...the majority of koreans only know about americans from tv. my daughter & i are both very pale, blue eyed, & very blonde hair. so, not only did we stand out like crazy, but there were a lot of stores & vendors that refused to let us in their establishment, many would spit on us, & my daughter had to be tied to me literally, to keep her from being kidnapped. had she been, the american government will not even attempt to locate her! she'd been sold as a sex slave & trained as such, never knowing any other kind of life. girls are bought & sold everyday & the level of filth...just be careful of what you eat & drink as well as be very aware of your surroundings & escape routes at all times. i don't mean to make it sound like a nightmare, but it's not a very nice place to be. if you're lucky enough to get into a small community it's 100% better! we were at first & then we were sent to pusan( the miami of korea) & it was terrible. good luck & prayers are with you.

Hi, I can not find a mark anywhere, but it tarnishes and cleans like sterling. My grandmother also told me it was.
