The listing, 1935 to 1945 WW II era vintage COLORADO RETAIL SALES TAX TOKEN 2 mill Interesting RED composition has ended.
Offered is an original 7/8" World War II era sales tax token of 2 mills.
It appears to be made of multi layered compressed paper or hard cardboard as a small portion on the reserve is folded up apparently due to use or contact.
This red coin like numbered 2 sales tax token was used as change during transactions in Colorado. Colorado had a 2 percent sales tax from 1935 until 1945. These 2 mill tokens were used when tax was less than a penny.
The tokens were typically issued in aluminum or plastic so this paper mucilage might be less common; although other Listians more knowledgeable might comment on this.
It has five concentric circles in the middle and reads COLORADO RETAIL TOKEN SALES TAX on each side with the number 2 at 3 and 9 o'clock.
