Warriors would also put the swastika on their rifles for good luck also. I am glad to be of some help to you. You see my dad is Hispanic and mom is Sioux ,Lakota.
hi ..i just want to say this is a beautiful piece.i have some info to shed some light on the darkess that surrounds these often miscontrude symbols so without further hesitation i offer this " fylfot ( swastika) occurs frequently in native American symbology, and may be found in Northern Plains beadwork and Southwest pottery, basketry and sand paintings — usually with a deosil orientation. In Northern Plains symbolism, the fylfot is a representation of the four directions, and embodies the concept that the sacred place of two-leggeds (humankind) is at the center of the world-hoop. Even today the circular solar wheel is reproduced in hair ornaments of rawhide wrapped with dyed porcupine quills, traditional pieces which are still being made by Lakota craftswomen in the manner of their ancestors" this is such a beautiful piece of art work.i love it...thanks for putting it up for auction..f&w!!!!
hi...yes thats the correct pronunciation here is it in context>Fylfot or fylfot cross (pron.: /ˈfɪlfɒt/ (fil-fot), i hope this helps..i have left you an mail on this..:)
