Questions & Comments
Just wanted to let you know that actually the star notes are fairly common. The one you have listed is one of 7,680,000 from the same run of $1.00 bills.
I thought this might help you. "What is a star note? Star notes are used by the BEP (Bureau of Engraving and Printing) to replace misprinted/damaged currency before it goes into circulation. These replacement notes are printed just like normal notes, except there is a star printed in the serial number. On Federal Reserve Notes, the star is where the block letter normally is (the last letter of the serial number). On Legal Tender notes and Silver Certificates, the star is where the prefix normally is (the first letter of the serial number)." ~ http://mycurrencycollection.com/reference/stars/
I do not want to take away from your auction as these have a great appeal to new collectors and old alike. It is often fun to try to find star notes from the same run and attempt to obtain all from the same year and mint. I am just trying to help and mean you no harm. Great Auction hon f/w and even bidding. :)
thanks but by saying they are not as common as you might think I ment that you don't run across them that often I have a friend that has A big vending route and he goes through A lot of ones in his change machine and he don't get very many
