Description

The listing, Ocimum basilicum, Sweet Basil 55+ Seeds, Fresh Herb so Aromatic has ended.

Basil is a wonderfully aromatic & flavorful herb that can be used in a variety of recipes & dishes. Unlike many other herbs, however, it is not cold-hardy, so it has to be replanted every year. In the cold winter months in WI I keep 1 or 2 of these plants as indoor house plants so that I have the fresh basil available year round. There is nothing like the flavor & aroma of fresh cut basil, dried does not even compare. Luckily, basil grows very fast & thrives in warmer climates. It is also very easy to grow & if it is maintained properly, can continue to yield great-tasting, fresh basil leaves into October and even November in warmer climates. The trick to growing basil is to keep it from flowering. This can be achieved quite easily by pinching off the top growth of the basil plant every few days.
If you do any Italian cooking at all, you'll want to include basil in the herb garden. Basil can't be planted until after the last frost date, but in the heat of summer it will produce abundantly.
Basil dishes up classic Italian flavor in eye-catching bushy plants suitable for garden beds or containers. Grow this tasty beauty in a sunny spot, and you'll reap rewards of flavorful foliage.
This is for 55+ seed, I always send extras. Plant just a few in a pot, they will all come up & before you know it you will have a bushy plant at your disposal for all your italian cooking.
