This cancelled 2 cent stamp was issued in 1937 to honor two naval heroes of the Barbary Wars and War of 1812 . Stephen Decatur is the navy's youngest captain in history and America's first war hero that didn't serve in the Revolution. He and Thomas MacDonough are most famous for their heroic actions aboard the ship Saratoga. Both men have numerous cities, counties and buildings named after them.
