The listing, 100 Havana Gold Tobacco Seeds has ended.
Up for bid is a packet of at least 100 (most likely more but they are tiny seeds and would be far too tedious to count so 100 seems like a nice even number) from my Havana Gold tobacco plants. My husband had grown these for smoking purposes and really likes their "smoothness". The plants are so easy to grow that I just tossed a pinch of seed on top of a 4" pot last spring just to appease him and forgot about them until they were almost a foot tall then transplanted them into a big pot that had a failed grapevine and the darn things took off shooting up to 5 feet with many of the leaves growing to a foot or larger. Even if not grown for consumption I ready must admit they do have wonderful foliage and I was quite happy with clusters of pink blooms in the fall.
We had tried to grow a Virginia strain the year before but the Texas heat took them out before midsummer. The Havana Gold however, took the heat and rather dry conditions in stride and up until we hit the low 20's last night, took the cool weather just as well.
The best part about growing tobacco though, would be the fact that a carton of cigarettes is running in excess of $60 here and each plant has put out enough leaves to roll up 3 cartons so it its a huge savings if you smoke and your own home grown will not have all the added chemicals and food starch rings that are in commercial cigarettes these days. Also, as far as I know it is still legal to grow you're own tobacco for you're own personal use with the ever changing laws and socially accepted discrimination against smokers, please make certain of the legality in your area before planting the stuff.
Thanks for looking and happy biding.
