The listing, Orange Habenero Seed, 6th Hottest Pepper! has ended.
The Orange Habenero (Capsicum chinense) is the 6th hottest pepper in the world, running between 100,000 and 350,000 points on the Scoville scale. To compare, a Jalepeño is between 2500 and 8,000 Scoville Points, and pepper spray is around 2.5 million.
I'm offering 30+ seeds harvested from my 2012 crop. The bush was grown by itself in the garden surrounded by Tomatoes, Eggplants, and Corn. The pods were split, the seeds rinsed, and dried carefully.
All peppers, heat lovers, should be planted in good starting medium, kept evenly moist, and at a temperature between 70 and 90 degrees F (22 to 32 C). Germination should take place in 14 days to a month depending on temperature.
Place in the garden in full sun after all chance of frost is gone. Peppers will get hotter as the season gets hotter. Haveneros will grow 1.5 to 3 feet tall, and will do better in the ground than a container, but I have been sucesssful growing in pots as well.
At the end of the season, before the first frost, peppers can be pruned, dug up, potted, and overwintered if kept warm in bright light.
