Any noticeable flaws...Is there anything significantly wrong with the comic

No! The only flaw is the rolld spine, which is why it's downgraded to a gd?vg. It's easily in that grade, I've been selling comics over 40 years, and grading has changed radically in the years. I go by a combination of the overstreet guide but try to use the CGC 10.0 system as they take more errors into account, yet they don't downgrade for arrival dates on silver/gold which to me is a no-brainer. Its writing thats added after the fact of printing and should be downgrade at least a 1/2 grade. I grade very strictly when doing mail-order as its important not to overgrade and have an unhappy custermer and possible loose repeat biz! You can check out my feedback on grading by doing an ADVANCED search in the search area of ebay, click on the search by seller link and enter bubbasbooks, I have 1882 positive feedbacks, 102 this past month alone as I'm ramping up sales!
Member since 2001. I just thought I'd bring something a little different to Listia, and plan to keep doing that as ALL the comics are te new stuff, nobodys offering any silver or gold, and I do have a bit of it. I have about 40,000-50,000 comics alone in stock, not to mention 30,000 records, cards of every description, books vintage and new HCs 1rst editions, toy, collectibles. You name it I have it as I've been buying for 35 years, and really not selling much except golden-age as the money just wasn't right for the newer stuff until last year so I'm opening the vaults! I have 15 packages I have to print lables for just from the weekend! Have a great night, I won't be able to answer any further questions as these lables and a tracking query are going to tie me up te rest of the evenening! Best, Vince

I would love if you could tell me what you mean by
"Its writing thats added after the fact of printing and should be downgrade at least a 1/2 grade"

Also I am interested in Mark Mcgwire...So if you have any cards I would prefer that...I do have over 250 of his most common and some uncommon cards but I would love to try to have almost every McGwire Card Out there...:)

I will def keep an eye out on you...I have been here for about a year...and you seem to be doing just fine...I loved your first couple of auctions as well and regret on not bidding on them...

Hi! Grading, like beauty is very personal and subjective! ome see a heavy girl and say ughh, fair at BEST.. where I see a heavy girl, and I say NICE, there a clean happy, healthy girl whose not smoking that damn crack!!! 9.4/6 !!!! Understand? Beauty like grades are in the eyes of the beholder!!! OK , in all collectible we TRY to establish grading criteria and defects, ie: rips, folds, discoloration, writing or anything AFTER the item left the factory! In MY opinion, an arrival date is the shopper owner marking the date it arrived at his store, hence in 30 days, he could rip off the top third of the cccover in the 1940s/50's and return it for a full refund, and still sell the remaining book for 1/2 the price, say a nickle, basically doubling his profit!!! It was a pretty common practice and there are a lot of 3/4 cover comics floating around and dealers grade them from poor to good/very good, again OPINION!! Comics Grading Guarentee if Tampa does't feel an arrivaldate takes away 1 bit from a mint comic. DOOH???? And yet people pay big money to buy graded books, or have books graded by a bunch of witless untrained "KIDS" that sometimes damage the books they are grading (FACT!), thoughh they'll never admit it. AND I've heard rumour s of them giving high value submiters the occassional "cherry" 10.0, when they call the same book 9.8 for everyone else because if there were a bunch of 10.0s GEM books floating around, the thrill of having the BEST graded copy would wear off so they keep the bull s*** alive. NONE of my books have been graded as you can't read them in plastic. A card or a coin fine, it only has two sides! Well, thats MY opinion!
I will have some more Mark Mcuire rookies listed soon as I can get scans done. My other auctions are going crazy as people discover my low prices!!! Thanks for readin Vince

You seem to know a ton about comics...maybe even a little more than people want you too...I would love to hear more about your grading theories/techniques and what you think of the comics in general...

Thank you! I WISH I had the time left in life to do that, I think of the time wasted in youth on frivilous purss anits depressing! I spent 3 hours arguing with management at Ebay about grading today over a "kid"who left 5 nuetral feedback for 5 $1.00 NM books! They wouldn't let me talk to Meg Ryan the owner of Ebay, so I'm *****. He probably left less then 5 stars, thinking he's doing some buyer a favor as he buys CGC graded books. Offered to revise the feedback to positive if I refunded his cost, shipping, & let him keep the books! DOOH! I could care less about the nuetrals but knowing the "ratings" are concealed from me, ebay, why would I give the guy his money back, and let him keep the limited to 5000 copies comics?? I just blocked him from any future sales as I don't have the time or patience to deal with those kind of people. comicdiablo was his name, and he started collecting in the late 1990s. I was a advisor to Bob Overstreet when he started the first price guide in 1972! I drove books down to CGC, only to bring them back ungraded, I assisted the Heritedge auction people grading auction submissions, owned stores, and worked for comic sellers in stores and conventions! At 57/8 I have nothing to prove. I'm just selling some of my 25 year (3rd) collection to help pays some of the bills for my disabled wife and feed my 8 rescued stray cats and dogs, ya know? I average a few hundred a week with 99.6% happy feedback. I guess you can't make that.4% happy no matter how hard you try. I still do. If they complain, I just refund their money and block them. Most of my custermers are long time repeat custermers, it the people with less the 50 feedback buying cheap comics you have to watch out for. From now on, I don't leave positives for anyone just because they pay, I'm waiting for them to leave positives first, but these "newbies" are using the feedback system to try to get something for nothing. Its sad, but that what I have to do I guess. Have a great week, Vince

thinking of which, I do have a bunch of McQuire rookies to list on here! I just got a nice bed cover from one listia seller/trader and a dog collar leash from another, and a silver 1920 walking liberty half from a third, so I'm having more fun here then on all the other sites I list on! People are pretty nice here, even though a lot don't understand auction protocol, they will learn! Thanks again!
