The listing, Vintage Silver Bracelet with large Amethyst Stone has ended.

I don't know alot about this bracelet other than it is fairly old and composed of about 40% silver and the rest is another metal blended in. I had it tested at a jeweler and this is what they told me. It has a large purple Amethyst stone that measures about 1" long and 1/2" wide with a 1 3/4" by 1 1/2" sterling filigree setting. The bracelet is about 7" total length and has a clasp that opens and closes. Very elegant looking. Total weight is 46 grams.

40% silver? What kind of test did the "jeweler" perform (I am a silversmith). Does this bracelet have any hallmarks? Numbers, letters, etc.? Thank you!

As I said it was a large precious metal buying company whos analytic abilities I trust. If I thought it was plated or stainless, etc. I would say so. Also when tested with Nitric acid the acid turns a creamy brown which usually signifys a .60% silver content or lower it turns brownish due to a copper mix usually as I am sure you know.

They have an X-Ray type machine. Its the guy I bring my scrap gold to. They are a big chain and the way they can test base metals with the machine is about as accurate as you can get. No bogus info here.

I have melted a lot of stuff in cupals to procure base metals from jewelry and computer components. If you can file a piece and it has a solid silverish color inside + No magnetic qualitys + proper weight with no color tarnish other than smokey black It is a metal with silver content over 40%
