would be a beautiful centerpiece for an afghan though, i think. Make a square surround to make it big enough for an afghan maybe!

wondering if this pattern would work up as an afghan with yarn instead of crochet cotton?

That's a good question. Worked with thread this measures out to be about 22 at the widest area. I'm really not sure how large it would work out to be with yarn..I'm thinking possibly the size of a lapgahan but I don't honestly think it would be large enough for a bed if that is what you are after.
