Overview: Based on a true story. Johnny (Paddy Considine), an Irish immigrant, smuggles his wife, Sarah (Samantha Morton), and their two daughters (Sarah & Emma Bolger) into America so that he can pursue his dreams of acting. Johnny and Sarah quickly realize that Johnny will not reach instant fame, and are forced to settle into life in New York City among the drug dealers, transients and thugs. Their two daughters befriend a sickly downstairs neighbor, Mateo (Djimon Hounsou), and he remarkably helps the family come to terms with the death of their infant son in Ireland, something that Johnny and Sarah could not escape even by leaving Ireland for America.
