Questions & Comments
Oh, and on the 2013 Box Tops, they don't expire until June 1st so you don't have to worry about rushing to use them.
Haha! :) Actually, I do 'extreme couponing' and I end up getting a ton of name brand stuff for cheaper than the off brands. I tend to stock up not only for me, but my parents and two sisters. Whenever I give them stuff, I always cut off the Box Tops first. Since the idea behind extreme couponing is to stock up on six months of food, I end up with about twenty boxes of cereal for me, twenty for my sister, etc.
So that combined with me unable to find the time in the last few months led to this massive pile of Tops! Actually, I have quite a few more not yet cut off packages, but those items are boxed up or on packages I can't cut yet (like Chex Mix).
I would say this took about two or three months to gather between everyone. ^__^
Hey, just out of curiousity, do you know how much the schools get for each one of these? I've always wondered but can't seem to find the answer out there.
wow, wish i could do the extreme coupon thing well. and as far as the school $ goes... you would be surprised how it can add up with so many participating.
I work for a library and actually teach a class here in Kansas! If you have Microsoft Word (or if you don't, you can download Open Office, which opens the same files) I'll be happy to e-mail the guide I wrote up (warning: it's 32 pages long!).
Sites like Krazy Coupon Lady were also a big help in me learning, and finding sites that cover local grocery stores was a big time saver as far as finding deals. If you have any stores that double coupons (particularly a Dillions or Krogers), you can routinely find some great sales!
The school does get the full 10 cents minus shipping costs unless another organization like a PTO/PTA decides to keep some of the funds for other purposes. Last year our school only turned in about $400 worth. This year we already have exceeded our $1400 goal. We may hit $1750. So as you can see those little guys add up fast. Especially if dedicated people go to extra lengths, like Listia to get more. Definitely watching this one.
Wow! Thank you for the information "wmteachermom"!! I did know the value is 10 cents because it is on the boxtop in the top L corner. I didn't think about the postage - you would think that the sponsors of boxtops could at least provide the schools with a prepaid envelope for the cause?
