Description
The listing, Antique "Tallest Married Couple on Earth" Giant Ring. Original from 1936 Worlds Fair in Chicago. has ended.
While researching this item I found this information: "Very large ring that has the words "Tallest Married Couple on Earth" in raised letters on the front. "Giant Rings" like this one were promoted as being "the right size for the giant to wear". The ring is approx. a size 25. The ring is made of base metals such as lead and tin. Condition is very good for its age with no cracks or missing metal. There is a small dent on the face from molding not damage.
Gottlieb and Alfreda Fischer were known as the "Tallest Married Couple on Earth". They met in Vaudeville where they both did song and dance numbers and married in 1933. They toured with various circuses including Ringling Bros. and were once billed as Mr & Mrs Long. They stayed in show business until 1949 when they retired.
This ring was in a box with other souvenirs from the 1936 Worlds Fair in Chicago. It has never been cleaned and no chemicals of any kind have touched it. It is the original patina from aging naturaly..
