This November enter the mystical and magical world of Yonder, a fantasy-meets-reality graphic novel for thrill-seekers of any age. Yonder is a globe-trotting odyssey set against the Dark Ages in 1200 A.D. Combining serial adventure with magical wonder and eye-popping visuals, creators Amir Barda and Rob Walcott developed their graphic novel out of their shared passion for motion picture imagery and story-telling. Seeking to capture big-screen splendor in graphic novel form, they used state-of-the art-software to achieve lush oil painting-like panels.
The book's narrative mimics the flow of a movie's composition, dividing the story into five distinct chapters that set the stage for new horizons and startling revelations.
"Yonder is a movie contained within pages," said Barda. "As you turn each page the story unfolds before your very eyes as the images take [on] life and illumination."
Yonder's hero, the Twilighter, has the ability to illuminate any passage or crypt. His job leads him on a dangerous adventure to find the Cane, a powerful tool that threatens world history. A cast of devious characters are also after the Cane, prompting the Twilighter (with the help of his father and children) to accept the challenge and save the world.
"Yonder is a fantasy story about memorable characters that go on a daring adventure," said Barda. "It features classic heroes and villains that compel the onlooker (reader) to follow along and become a part of the characters' journey."
The creation of Yonder has seen its own long journey. What started out as a screenplay that Barda and Walcott first dreamt up as a feature film four years ago has evolved into a 120-page graphic novel. Using a pain-staking synthesis of layout artists, pencilers, real-life models and Adobe Photoshop Wizards, Barda and Walcott feel confident they've created a highly unique visual adventure that will enchant and thrill.
