Description

The listing, 1969 Topps baseball card lot w/ Kessinger AS has ended.

Here's a lot of eight (8) vintage 1969 Topps baseball cards (NOT reprints). Please note this is a lower-grade condition lot, with all cards having issues such as indentations or pen marks, etc (no creases I can see). But then again, these cards are 44 years old. Neat bit of history, but if you're picky about condition, this is not the auction for you.

DON KESSINGER [All-Star card] (SS, Cubs) was Chicago's starting shortstop for over a decade, making the All-Star team 6 times.

ROGER NELSON (P, Royals) had a great 1972 when he had the best WHIP and SO/BB ratio in the majors thanks to 120 strikeouts and only 31 walks.

MAX ALVIS (3B, Indians) was a 2-time All-Star ('65 & '67) for Cleveland.

AL DARK (MGR, Indians) won Rookie of the Year in 1948 and finished 5th in MVP voting in '54 behind Duke Snider and winner Willie Mays. As manager, won World Series with Oakland in '74.

Phillies Rookie Stars LARRY HISLE & BARRY LERSCH - Hisle was a 2-time All-Star, leading the AL in RBI in 1977, and 2nd in home runs in 1978 behind Jim Rice. A torn rotator cuff limited the rest of his career, but he went on to be the hitting coach for the WS champion Blue Jays teams of the early 90s. Under his coaching in 1993 Blue Jays John Olerud, Paul Molitor and Roberto Alomar finished 1-2-3 in the American League respectively in batting average.

DON LOCK (OF, Phillies) had some good years for the Senators, finishing 6th in AL home runs in '63.

BART SHIRLEY (IF, Dodgers) was a backup for a few years, mostly with Los Angeles, plus a few games for the Mets.

JOE NOSSEK (OF, A's) had 2 singles against the great Sandy Koufax in the 1965 World Series and later coached for many years.

Thanks. I bought a lot of about 200 cards.. picked out like 25 to keep (specifically Mantle), and am putting up the rest on Listia. Feel free to message me your '69 needs and maybe I can put together a custom auction based on it or something.
