I have never used a magic loop, so that question I cannot answer- I use dpns for socks. However, the cable is more flexible than the knitters pride or knit picks or any other cable needle I have touched . . . I really like it - I bought the set of a bunch of sizes & used only one size for a cowl. The only reason i'm getting rid of them is that we are moving and I prefer to stick with interchangeables, since we will be moving to a much smaller place . . .
I am thrilled this one is so popular - I also have the same needle, except in a 1&1/2 listed that hasn't been bid as high. I personally use 1s or 2s for socks most of the time, so that one is another great option. I simply learned to make socks using dpns, so I don't need a cable needle for them . . . Check out the other listing if you're interested in another option, or if you're interested in a slightly larger one for the leg of the sock (so it goes faster) like my knitting teacher recommends :) Thanks everyone!
