I fell in love with this at an estate sale nearly 20 years ago. I kept it hung in my closet with cedar shavings, potpourri, or a packet of sachet, to keep that "musty" smell away from my garments. It's nice to catch that fragrance when you open the door.
I'm not totally sure of the metal content, but it appears to be silver, or silver alloy over copper. I suppose it could be brass, but I don't think so. I'm also reasonably sure this was made by hand, because if it had been machine made, it would have been more "prefect". It has no markings at all, but it does still have the original sticker on the inside bottom, that says Made in India. It's just over 3" in diameter, and has a wonderful patina. All parts are in tact and serviceable. In all the years I've enjoyed having this, I've never seen another one like it. (not that old, anyway) If I were younger, I'd probably keep it. :-)
