Description

The listing, Dragon Fruit Cactus Seeds Easy To Grow has ended.

Winning bidder will receive at least 20 seeds

Extra seeds will be added for the winner

This is the white flesh fruit.

Dragon fruit, or pitaya, is a vinelike cactus which can spread or climb. Pitaya produces edible, ostentatious flowers that can be as much as 14 inches long and 9 inches wide. The fleshy fruits -- actually berries -- are about 4 inches long, with pink, white or red flesh. The oval fruit, produced year-round, has soft scales near the end of the fruit. Both the skin and flesh are edible. While not exactly self-pollinating, all dragon fruit species inter-pollinate with each other and many varieties do not require cross-pollination. Grow more than one plant to enable inter-pollination to produce better quality fruit, or self-pollinate a single plant by hand.

Winner must have verified Listia address within 7 days of auction end.

Have "You" actually grown the seeds your selling? Are they fresh?

*What variety are they?* Does this variety have long or short thorns on the plant? What color are the fruit?

...Do you guarantee that they will grow? ...Will you send a free batch of good seeds if these do not grow?

Most important question: *Are they self-pollinating or do they need to be paired with another plant to be able to produce flowers & fruit?*

...Most varieties are NOT self-pollinating.

That means unless you are 100% sure they're self-pollinating, these might not grow any fruit... unless pollinated.

ie: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/tropicalfruits/msg0920020219268.html

I try to include all that info... otherwise people are taking a shot in the dark... and could end up buying something that doesn't work for them.

There are no guarantees with anything. Can you go back to the store of sale and ask for a refund if your seeds don't grow?

I have some growing as we speak, as with all seeds it is a hit and miss, but I planted 5 out of a fruit I got and all five germinate, slow start but they take off once they make up their mind to. These are cool plants to grow and can be cross pollinated by hand if need be. and so are self pollinating.

this variety is a plant and not a cactus? the pitaya i know and have is a tall thin cactus which grows by just cutting a piece about 4 in. long and planting in sandy to rocky soil and the fruit is delicious!!!!!!
