Description

The listing, Achocha (Fat Baby) Seeds has ended.

For those unfamiliar with Achocha, it's a south American vegetable. It grows on prolific and rampant vines (mine grab hold of anything close to them!) that form little tiny flowers that hoverflies adore. The vegetable itself can be eaten when little and immature (and tastes of a cucumber), but I prefer to wait until they've grown a bit bigger. When they're larger (about two inches), paler, and when you can squeeze them easily, they become basically hollow inside. You can then stuff them and bake them or put them into stifries, chilli, soups. It doesn't have a very strong flavour when cooked, and a lot of people say it tastes like green pepper. They're covered in rubbery spines that look scary but are harmless. They're my favourite thing that I've grown this year, and it's been a great talking point at the allotment! They an heirloom and also don't cross pollinate
with anything else. Each vegetable has about 10 seeds that you can save to plant next year.

This auction is for 8 seeds, saved from my best achocha plant this year.

Postage abroad wouldn't cost more than £1, but do be aware that there may be customs regulations that won't allow you to receive seeds coming into the country from abroad. I know Canada is fine as I've sent seeds there many times before, but I'm not sure about the US. I can write "beads" on the customs label instead of "seeds" and hopefully it will be okay. :-)

So we'll say £1 for shipping, and if it gets confiscated by customs (you won't get in trouble - you'll just get a letter), just show me the letter they'll send you informing you that it's happened, and I'll refund your bid amount but not the shipping I spent to send it to you. Hopefully that seems fair. :-)
