Was in a box of stuff I bought! I saw it in the bottom of box and that was the reason I bought the whole thing for $10.00. Did I do good?

I was thinking about what red73 said this being a WWI pin...did a little research and I'm thinking it may be a bit older. There are very similar images of "Uncle Sam going off to Cuba" for the Spanish-American War...any thoughts???

I am curious about the fastener...pins (as in lapel, etc.) don't normally have screws..it's almost like it was part of a larger piece...maybe?? This is going to make for an interesting research project after I win it ;)

Found this listing on EBay!
This pin shows Uncle Sam carrying a rifle with a backpack that has US written on it. It measures 1 1/4" tall. It still has it's original red paint and is in excellent condition. I don't know if this was a cracker jack toy, it was in a bag of early Cracker jack items which I also have up for auction. It dates probably to the early 1900's!
So, really still a mystery!

Its a WW2 promotional pin. Passed out along with Uncle Sam "I want you!" posters. These and tons of other propaganda were given out to encourage people to enlist in the military. This pin was probably given out at a recruiters office. It would be 1942-1945 in age. They really pushed enlistment after pearl harbor in 1941. Really cool peice.
