You dot need batteries at all to use this. Just plug it in the top of the controller. Just make sure that if you do have a batter pack in while using this that the batteries are rechargeable cause they will begin to eat up and could possibly damage your controller. I've got one of these from when the first Xbox 360 came out and I love it. Great auction! Good luck.
