Yep, it's for use in a regular kitchen. It is for steaming, deep frying, or cooking pasta, potatoes, etc. It has stay cool handles so you don't burn your hands lifting the food out of hot water or hot grease. I think the pictures on the box give some great ideas about using the chef basket.
