a jailbreak is a operation that lets you take alot more control over your device then what apps it has on it, how many pages you have or folders, more then just the simple stuff. it will let you go into your device and let you enhance the way it looks with themes, tweaks for more apps per page, what your notification center can look like just so much that apple wont let you do.
