Book Description:

A delightful criticism by Tolstoy on 19th-century art and science. It reveals the depth of his observation as well as his understanding of diverse subjects. A highly informative work!

About the Author:

One of the world's greatest novelists and moral philosopher. Tolstoy’s works greatly influenced much of 20th-century literature, and his ethical preaching helped form the thinking of several important spiritual and political leaders.

All of the books I list on Listia are free. Here is a quote from the website. "Our ebooks are free in the United States because their copyright has expired. They may not be free of copyright in other countries. Readers outside of the United States must check the copyright laws of their countries before downloading or redistributing our ebooks. We also have a number of copyrighted titles, for which the copyright holder has given permission for unlimited non-commercial worldwide use."

Yes, (as I have said numerous times before) These books are available Free via Project Gutenberg. You can go there and download them yourself, or you can help generate money to support Project Gutenberg by bidding on them here on Listia.

As a fundraiser, I calculate the appropriate percentage of the total funds raised and send a cash royalty payment to Project Gutenberg.

You can get the books either way, but if you choose option #2 you help more than just yourself.

So once again, Thank You all for promoting literacy and supporting Project Gutenberg.

How do I pay them 20% of credits?" - Credits have a dollar value (X amount of credits cost X amount of dollars to purchase) so receiving credits equates to receiving money. It is essentially just a new currency, used only on Listia. I calculate the dollar value of what is received and pay the cash equivalent of 20% to Gutenberg. Doing it any other way is illegal.

A file with the .MOBI extension can only be used on a "Kindle" device, not a computer.

A file with the .EPUB extension is an Open Publication Structure eBook file. There are a bunch of free "ebook reader" programs that you can download and install on your computer to open the .EPUB file.

A file with the .PDF extension is a Portable Document Format. There are several free programs online that you can download & install to open .pdf files.

This is a link to a bunch of free programs called .PDF Viewers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PDF_software#Viewers_5

I recommend that you go to this website and download Adobe Acrobat Reader: http://get.adobe.com/reader/

Once you install Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer, you will be able to open the .pdf file and read your book.

All you have to do is install Adobe Acrobat Reader, then double click on the .PDF file and Adobe Acrobat Reader will open it.

Then you will be able to read all sorts of ebooks... recipe books, novels, how-to's & more.

If you have trouble figuring it out, feel free to ask me for help.
