Description

The listing, Sylvania mp3 player/flash drive has ended.

Here we have a 4gb mp3 player/flash drive/flashlight device from Sylvania. It features a soft but sturdy body made of various plastics. I will erase any media on the device, sorry, but it's policy on Listia.

The flashlight isn't very bright, but you can use it to locate the keyhole in your apt/car and to light up a very small area ... it "just" works ... :)

There's an earphone jack for headphones (ear-buds included, but you are advised to get your own headset, those are better than the buds), and a USB port, as well as a hole for a mic, which means the possibility to record voice memos or some such thing.

The unit also has a color-changing screen ... a number of different colored back-lighting options, and some settings you can change - as well as some EQ presets.

The device can work as just a flash drive if you don't wish to deal with the player, but the player's an added bonus, in my book ! With 4gb of storage, you should be able to store quite a bit of music on it, but for some odd reason the internal player doesn't seem to "enjoy" having folders, or maybe you have to create or sync using Media Player?

I'm more an iTunes guy, so I don't know - but I much prefer using Windows 98 to load up the device as (the internal player) has difficulty with Windows 7 when you sync using that, but the files WILL be stored and you don't need a battery to keep the data intact.

The device uses one AAA (Triple-A) battery, and I've tested rechargeable batteries in there, and they work fine, but not as long as a standard one (obviously). :)

To store files, just drag and drop with your favorite media player or file manager. Also, don't forget to use the "remove hardware" icon to disconnect the drive or you could corrupt the flash ...

I have 2 of these and am going to auction them separately, so that everyone gets a chance to "grab a slice" ...

Anyhow, have fun, bid fair, please use Paypal, and thanks for checking out my auction today! :)

I could always put a few of my own "self written tunes" on the device, so there's "sample media" to listen to, but I cannot have other artist's material loaded on the device without their permission. I'll go on Amazon and grab a few "free songs" to leave on the device - that way, it's "publishable" but not breaking any rules. I'm not certain that I am allowed to do any of this, though; but they can't sue me for my own material that I wrote - so I think that's the "safest" way to do it. :)

How much is shipping to Ohio?

That's a very good question - I think it depends on how much the package weighs, and how far it's going ... shouldn't be any more than $3 to $5, but I will know soon enough. If we're talking about the mp3 player, it should be in that range - heavier objects will cost more. :)

do you accept cash payment also?

That's another great question ! ... it's not advised to send cash
thru the US mail, as it has a tendency to vanish and leave no
trace as to where it went. Joining or setting up a Paypal account
is free and can "mask" your debit/credit card so that you can
make secure transactions online. www . paypal . com (remove spaces before typing that into your browser) - if you want my Paypal detail(s) so that you can pay for shipping, you should send me a private message - but - you might also "wish" to "win the auction" first ! :)

I'd accept cash, but there are too many risks using that method, please consider using a "online payment processor" or check to see if your bank has a "send money to a friend" option. If you don't have a bank account, get a prepaid credit card and only use that. You can often "re-fill" them once the balance gets too low and they limit your liability to "just what's on the card".

It doesn't sync with Win 7? I usually load my device with drop and drag, does that method work?

Can you create playlists so you can change your music to suit your mood?

Does it have can you add a memory disc?

I really haven't tried it with Windows 7 since I bought them (over a year ago), but if you set the options in media player to not make too many folders, it should work fine ... but I have not tried a Win 7 sync, since I'd have to change my setup from iTunes ... that, and I'm switching to a Mac (shortly) and these type of players are "less compatible" (with itunes) than a genuine ipod device. either way, drag and drop works from "Finder" or Explorer, whichever you have. Only go one folder or so "deep", and you should be fine and the device will play your tunes.

I think you can sync over playlists - again, haven't tried it ... it does come with a CD, but I rarely use them (don't use bundled software unless it's a driver) - I just copy stuff over manually ... :)

I'm pretty sure it's a fixed 4 gigs (4,000 mb, enough for at least 500-700 songs if that gives you an idea of storage space.) - there's nowhere on the player that you can insert any cards, as it's quite small. (as per the photos). Good luck, and happy bidding ! :)

There are now, and I needed to have a few on the deice to test that it still works, but I have to abide by the rules and delete them, as it would be violating artist copyrights - and Listia's rules to leave them on there.

You really seem interested ... :)
