Genuine World War II V-Mail letter form. During the war, letters would be written or typed on this form, it would be photographed and the film containing hundreds of letters would be sent overseas to troops serving in Europe or the Pacific. This saved hundreds of pounds of weight the mail would have taken so more war supplies could be shipped. The form includes place for censors stamp. It is a unique piece of World War II history. The auction is for the V Mail form only! The poster illustrated above from WWII is not included in the auction. Please enlarge to see details of this unique piece of history being auctioned.
Questions & Comments
Original
Many a soldier, sailor and Marine received good news of baby's being born and the latest news from back home. A few also receive other news of the passing of a family member back home or even a "Dear John" letter, that the girlfriend back home had found someone else. This was a unique part of American postal and World War II history and makes an ideal gift for the WWII or stamp collector.
