Do they have to be big in size before they start blooming or how old do they have to be before they bloom?
and when they do get as big as yours how often do they bloom?

They bloom once a year in the spring, big or small. They grow pretty fast---I have cut my mama plant often to start cuttings and it fills the pot quickly.
My big plant is 6 or 7 years old. In the 2nd pic you can see the new arms growing up.
