Stargate SG-1 is an awesome sci-fi show! Great for people who like star trek, and other sci-fi/adventure shows.

Richard Dean Anderson (MacGuyver) is Jack O'Neil - one of the main characters who leads a team "off world" to explore different planets, make alliances with good aliens and fight the bad ones.

This show is wonderful! I have all 11 seasons.

Most of the episodes are "stand alones" meaning that you can watch just about any episode without seeing the ones prior to it, and still understand the storyline.
