Its an emergency can opener, as in picture #2 you hook the "lip" of the can in the notch and then with a twisting motion (like using a car key) the blade plunges into the can , ANY can,,,it can also Easily remove the tops from soda cans... I have ALSO used a P-38 to skin wild game and have even used a p-38 as an emergency fishing hook.... (Multiple uses that I have yet to discover...BUT it is a can opener....
