This is a 2003 reprint of the 1887 Edition. Excellent condition, no stains or wear. It's not your average cookbook, but rather a walk through time. A reenactors manual, so to speak. Details the fine minutiae of 18th-19th century food preps, available foodstuffs, methods of serving... And most notably the etiquette observed by our founding fathers, their wives and those in the employ of the White House up till 1887. Photo prints of First Ladies from Adams through Cleveland, interior WH kitchen pics, specific menu's for specific events. A very cool depiction of State Dinner seating arrangements and placement of glassware on tables. Too cool!!
