This is a 1902 Liberty "V" Nickel. All-in-all, it's a nice coin for a beginner or any one who is collecting and doesn't currently have this year. You can then replace it at a later time when you begin upgrading your coins and/or find a better grade. If you're a new collector you'll soon learn that these Liberty nickels suffered severe wear, much more so than most coins their age. It's difficult to find one with clarity of detail without spending a considerable sum.
